Public Sector customers are eligbible for a Department for Transport grant exclusively for procurement of Ashwoods Hybrid Vehicles. This grant means that the purchase cost of an Ashwoods Hybrid Transit is equivalent to that of a standard diesel varient, thus dramitically increasing the valuse of the fuel savings. Private Sector customers do not benefit from the DfT grant but will see rapid Return on Investment from the fuel savings provided by the Hybrid.

Unlike fully electric vehicles, Ashwoods hybrid vans are entirely self-sufficient and never need to be plugged in for charging. How?
Because the battery never runs down. The hybrid technology enables it to charge itself during braking, and then assist the engine during acceleration, therefore increasing the range of the standard vehicle diesel tank.

The nature of our customers, mainly busy commercial fleet operators, led us to develop advanced hybrid technology that’s highly robust, durable and able to match the reliability and performance of the underlying vehicle. Drivers will notice no difference from a standard Transit other than the fact they will stop for fuel, less often!

Fleet managers can benefit from this hybrid technology without making any adjustments to vehicle or business operations. There are no additional procedures that need to be introduced, such as charging, and this gives Ashwoods Hybrid Vehicles a major advantage over other technologies, where in many cases the infrastructure is still in development.

Extensive testing makes this unlikely, but even if a vehicle’s hybrid technology develops a fault, performance is uncompromised. The vehicle can immediately continue under its standard diesel engine, experiencing no downtime whatsoever, until the system fault is repaired.
 

 

Market-leading emissions and fuel usage figures

Testing has demonstrated that Ashwoods Hybrid Vehicles produce the lowest results in the UK for emissions and fuel usage. Because of the way our hybrid technology is fitted directly to standard vehicles, these comparative results can be very precise and easily obtained, simply by testing the vehicle before and after hybrid installation.

The most recent independent results on the European Drive Cycle (NEDC) show that Ashwoods Hybrid vehicles reduce CO2 and fuel usage by 20.1%. This testing was carried out at Mira Emissions Laboratories for the Department for Transport, and the results were the catalyst for the DfT to order 100 Ashwoods Hybrid Vehicles for the UK’s largest Public Sector Fleets.

Of course, CO2 and fuel savings will vary dependant upon the user drive cycle. The NEDC simulates a combination of Urban and Extra Urban driving and is the recognised test for all manufacturer emissions data across Europe.

Due to the way in which Ashwoods hybrid technology operates, it may not be the right choice for vehicles that spend most of their time on the motorway. However, as the results show, it is a highly effective solution when vehicles are at their least efficient, and this is within urban environments and stop/start driving cycles.
